Music and Me – Let it All Out

This is, hands down, my favorite Relient K song.  It’s been a timely reminder during those times when growth/change/learning is painful!

And I’ll let it be known (At times I have shown)
Signs of all my weakness
But somewhere in me
There is strength
And You promise me (That You believe)
In time I will defeat this
‘Cause somewhere in me
There is strength

Words and Music – Somewhere Down the Road

This Amy Grant has been a personal favorite for a LONG time.

Somewhere down the road
There’ll be answers to the questions
Somewhere down the road
Though we cannot see it now
Somewhere down the road
You will find mighty arms reaching for you
And they will hold the answers at the end of the road

Word and Music – I Stand

I absolutely love Idina Menzel’s rendition of this song!

When you ask me, who I am:
What is my vision? And do I have a plan?
Where is my strength? Have I nothing to say?
I hear the words in my head, but I push them away.

‘Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there’s a better place.
I don’t know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.

Words and Music – Heart of Worship

As I type this, we are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.  It’s a once in a lifetime experience – thank you, God! – and has left us all a bit out of our “normal” habits and behaviors.  Large numbers of people are working from home, restaurants are providing take out/delivery service ONLY, malls are closed, and churches are streaming their services online.  Our worship has been stripped bare of form and format, location, . . . everything we are used to has been set aside for now.  This song reflects my thoughts perfectly.

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth
That will bless your heart
I’ll bring you more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what you have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart
I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about you,
It’s all about you, Jesus
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about you,
It’s all about you, Jesus

Words and Music – Baby Grand

This song was recorded by Billy Joel (one of my favorite recording artists ever) and the amazing Ray Charles.  Yes, two of the greatest sing AND play on this song.  It’s a love song, really.  Yes.  A love song to an instrument.  And I absolutely relate.

Late at night
When it’s dark and cold
I reach out
For someone to hold
When I’m blue
When I’m lonely
She comes through
She’s the only one who can
My baby grand
Is all I need
